Eating Disorder Clinic Question?

Question by Jade: Eating disorder clinic question?
I’m talking for those who suffered with Anorexia and are in the adolence age category (13-18).
I want a general overview and then:
What is the schedule like?
What is the school there like?
Do they let you eat as a personal snack (like if you are just feeling crazy and it isn’t snack time but you want to eat)?
What are the bmi’s of girls admitted?
How often does the family come?
What is the meal plan (a generic one is fine)?
How long are you there for (average stay)?

Thanks 🙂

Okay so I am 20 right now but when I suffered from anorexia I was 14-18 years old and 16 years old when I went to a clinic. So I hope it’s okay for me to answer!

I want a general overview and then:
What is the schedule like?
-I think it would vary, but for us it was:
6am-get up, pee, then get weighted
7-8am: showers and quiet time
8-9am: breakfast
10-12am: school (so yes, there was school!)
12-1pm: lunch
2:45pm: snack
3-5pm: it varied..yoga, crafts, self reflection, group therapy, individual therapy, etc.
5-6pm: Dinner
8pm: Snack
9pm and on was getting ready for bed/lights out at 11pm

What is the school there like?
-It sucked where I went…basically my teachers from my normal school sent me work and during the time I went to school I worked on what they gave me…we had a tutor but she wasn’t much help.

Do they let you eat as a personal snack (like if you are just feeling crazy and it isn’t snack time but you want to eat)?
-no, it was very structured eating. Only allowed during allotted times and expected to finish at least 80%of the meal

What are the bmi’s of girls admitted?
-I don’t know? That is not information that they are allowed to reveal…I wasn’t even allowed to know my own bmi while I was there!

How often does the family come?
-whenever they feel like coming

What is the meal plan (a generic one is fine)?
-Ours was just a calorie system…each of us had to meet with a nutritionist and we were assigned a calorie goal, which was reassessed every week.

How long are you there for (average stay)?
-one month

General overview?’…it sucked big time and I hated the clinic I was in…if your going to one, try and pick a high quality one.
