Question by zigzagidiot: what do you think of psychological labels of the modern age?
what are the limits of fitting oneself or another into a psychological label – like “depression”, “borderline personality”, “obsesive compulsive disorder”, “bi-polar” or “schizophrenia” ?

Who made up these frames from which we view certain kinds of life experience and can we trust them – the label and it’s popular treatments ?

They are just shorthand for the psychological and psychiatric professions, with all the advantages and disadvantages of most profiling systems.

The limits are that no two persons with one of these diagnoses are exactly alike. what works for one may not work for the other.
