DougTrails Teaser

DougTrails Teaser – On May 31, 2006, Doug Markgraf’s life changed dramatically. Before being hit by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle in West Philadelphia, he had plans to become a materials engineer. He stopped at nothing and was only headed upward in life. Then, in a hit-and-run that left him unconscious in the bike lane of Lancaster Avenue in Philadelphia, he was forced to view life at a much slower pace. Little did he know, but cycling wasn’t just the cause for his trauma; it would become the impetus for his recovery from traumatic brain injury. He’d have gotten nowhere if it weren’t for the help of family, friends, doctors, and rehabilitation specialists all helping motivate him towards a complete recovery. Doug’s motivation and drive to return to the road acted as a reason to keep fighting- and now he hopes to instill this same drive and impetus in others who are in the same dilemma. In the summer of 2011, Doug will ride cross-country, from California to New Jersey, to raise awareness for traumatic brain injuries, and raise money for the Raisin Hope Foundation. He will visit hospitals and TBI patients along the way, and help show that TBI patients can still live amazing lives after their injury. For more details on Doug’s trip, check out his website: dougtrails.wordpress.com More information on the documentary project, and how you can help support it, will be available here soon.
