Stacey Prussman www.myspace.com www.campuspeak.com About me: I am a comedian, actress, recovering eating disorder survivor and motivational speaker. I am very fortunate to speak to students on College Campuses all across the US and Canada about eating disorders, body image and healing. My eating disorders started early. I was put on my first diet at the age of ten. Before my big audition for the Broadway production of Annie, an agent told me, “There are no fat Annie’s – you need to lose some weight.” The next fifteen years were filled with diet pills, fad diets, starvation, extreme exercise, depression, and bulimia. I was constantly trying to lose that “extra” ten pounds. I had an eating disorder for 15 years and had no idea! After being hospitalized due to the effects of my eating disorders, I decided to fight back and learn to set my OWN standards. I feel it’s very important for young women to understand what they are doing to their bodies — destroying it! I was brutal to my body and myself. I want for others to learn from my mistakes. I am now a professional stand-up comedian, actress, motivational speaker, certified personal trainer, and an eating disorder survivor. It’s not easy admitting that I had a problem. But, I’ve been without urges for over five years now. I speak to students all over the US and Canada about my personal story of my battle with eating disorders and how I struggled to
