How Effective Is Therapy for Depression?

Question by Gianna: How effective is therapy for depression?
Did you get “better” from therapy? Were you able to get over any emotional baggage you had?

I just need some insight.

Thank you.

Yeah, “talk therapy” has helped me a lot with my depression. It helps you figure out the roots of your depression and helps you come up with plans to combat the depression in the future. Give it a try!

luckily when i sought out a therapist i was in college and my college offered those service for free. it personally helped me cope better, but studies have show that the most effective treatment for depression is a combination of antidepressants and therapy. i tried therapy alone first, then added a SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor- like Zoloft) later. i dont take anything now, and no longer go to counseling because i learned more effective ways to cope.
